<p>Just go for it. As long as you keep up the good work, I think you should apply when the times comes. If you don't try, you'll never know.</p>

<p>Yes, you have a little more work to do on the standardized test front. I think that you might want to give the ACT a shot and see how that works out. Take a practice one under test like conditions, and just see how you do. Your GPA and course rigor are good, though, so you just need to beat some set of board scores into a little better shape to improve your changes of admissions. If the ACT annoys you less, go after that one. Otherwise - you have the time of improve both your SAT and SAT II's. </p>
<p>One of the most important components of the Chicago application is the essay. When you apply next year, start looking at the prompts as soon as they come out so that you have plenty of time to think about them, and lots of time for revision and polishing. Doing so would let you apply early action. I would also suggest that you interview on campus.</p>
<p>Perhaps "Should I even get my hopes up?" would be a better thread title.</p>
<p>So I should work on test scores? That happens to be the hardest one....</p>
<p>I took the PLAN which is like the practice ACT and I got a prediction of 27-31 but that was over a year ago.</p>

scores can't get you in but they keep you out. You have plenty of time - if you stick with the SAT, retake the II's one test at a time (two at most). You want your SAT over 1400 (or 2100 for the new one) composite. You want a couple of II's over 700. Or a 32+ ACT. </p>
<p>And - with a handle like penandfury - I'm assuming that you can write. Don't underestimate the importance of the essay.</p>
