Should I even try?

Projected 2050-2250, apparently not.
retaking in december.

I have no state/national/international awards, no hooks.

going for CALS - AEM

GPA's are useful too.

to be honest, no- what do you want me to say

if you don't even have the confidence to apply, you're not going to get in

Hey you SAT score is only a few tens of points away from the average. Just show genuine interest in the school and research about Cornell.

I'm sure you have some hooks. What's your GPA?

I would apply.

what is the average?

I was devastated when I found out my oct score (it came out REALLY late) because I thought it would go up 100+ points. went down 50 point :(

I have a 3.8/4.0 but that's the best in my grade.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/415844-strange-situation.html

I don't think you're going to get in. Neither your SAT I nor your SAT II scores are very impressive. Your EC's basically consist of a buncha clubs. I see nothing that indicates a business interest.

It's only a couple of extra bucks in the end though to apply.

I really hope my counselor brings out the fact that "I've done what I can," like he said he would.

I know it's an attempt to justify myself, but I have the highest SAT score in my school's history. It's only been around for 10 years. There were 6 clubs available in my freshman year, and I joined all of them - not because I thought about college, but because I was in serious need of doing something lol. Afterwards, I founded a few clubs and attempted to make the school (70% korean/taiwanese) into a more American-like school (ie. we had our first HS dance ever in my sophomore year). I've reached out to the community through my C+S club - there have been newspaper articles about how we donated $$ to local schools.

Before taking IB (we're the guinea pigs), our only choice of classes was between French and Mandarin. Also, though my 3.8 is not spectacular, that was as good as it got.

:(

You have 0% chance of gettin in if you don't apply.. So just go for it.. they won't punish you for applyin..
All the Best!

I def. agree ^ ^
you have to figure out what sets you apart from other applicants…they’re not just looking for high scores (which seems to be what almost everyone is preoccupied with lol) just go for it!!! never make assumptions…GL!! :)

hehe thanks guys.

hi my names mitch im in the 9th grade
im mixed with white and black im on the honor roll,
honors math, band, jv football, wrestling team, and the leadership team

what do i ned to do to get into harvard

someone in my school got in with a 1200/1600. but their rank was top 1%. work on your essays.

thanks what ap classes should i take

Mitch: Take as much as you're CAPABLE of taking, but You have to show you challenged yourself through highschool.

On Topic: Go for it. If your oppurtunities were limited , express it. Your scores arent that good, and your ec's really aren't good as well. You could have done something like open a small store on ebay. That would've been a really nice EC, or maybe get a job?

But you seem to be just the average applicant Cornell recieves. Who knows? You might get in.

I'm not top 1% but I am the top student.

sigh. I spent too much time doing school related activities. it's just our school's so horrible lol and I've been trying to do something about it. I will apply though :p

What do you lose if you try? I think you should consider if the 80 dollar application fee is really more important than your future. And it may or may not be, so it's more of a personal question.

Well, awesome, that sounds like a really nice and unique EC. Be sure to express that somehow, and you should have a shot.

nothing u do will guarantee u admission to harvard.
And fellowccviewer, i have no ECs that show an interest in business, but i applied so w.e if you apply, u HAVE a chance; if u dont, u have NO chance.
