i really want to apply to the ivies, but i don't know if i should even try, based on my grades. i have a total of 6 Bs - 1 from freshman year, 3 B+s sophomore year (one was from an elective though), and 2 B+s junior year. right now, that brings my total gpa to 3.86 UW and 4.19 W. do i even have a chance?? thankss!

What is your rank? SAT scores? Percentage school sends to ivies? ECs?

our school doesn’t rank, but according to my couselor, i should be in the top 10-15% of my class. i was just wondering - based on my grades alone, would they be competitive at the ivies, even with all those Bs?

What clubs are you in at school? do you play sports?

admission isn’t based on only grades, so cough up some more information!:)

SAT/ACT scores?

Well, it really all depends on everything else in your app. I had a B each of freshman, sophomore, and junior year, and one B+ as a freshman, and two each as a sophomore and a junior (including one, as a sophomore, in my strongest subject! Oops! Luckily I got an A in the AP class as a junior), and I got into both Ivies I applied to. (With ~3.7 UW?) However, my GPA/transcript was definitely the weakest part of my application (SATs, course load difficulty, and extracurriculars were all very good).

It’s about rank, not about grades. At some high schools no one ever gets straight As, at others, the top 10% all have straight As. Few get into ivies that are not top 10% of their class. Those that do generally have a real hook.
