Should I expect an acceptance letter in April?

I'm hoping to transfer into Wharton as a Sophmore.

I attend a community college in Arizona.
College GPA: 4.0
High School GPA: 3.7
SAT M: 690
SAT W: 570
SAT R: 570

Essays: Very good and written specifically for Wharton

Pg 217 essay: Wrote about a cake business I started and what I learned for the experience.

Additional essay: Wrote about my dads battle with cancer/liver transplant and what it taught me. Very good.

Extracurriculars: Playing music for 8 years now (bass guitar, guitar). Performed in high school Jazz Bands, Orchestra, Jazz combos, marching bands, and toured Europe with an orchestra. Also participated in many local bands for the last 6 years. I've produced/recorded music for a lot of local bands and hope to own a major record label one day.

My passion for music came across in my applications and I also sent them a cd (a really nice one) of one of the bands I'm in.

All teacher/counselor recs are very good.

Addition Info: Neither of my parents went to college; I'm a white male (18 yrs old).

Any thoughts?

THANKS!

What a crafty way of titling a chances thread…

What’s the transfer acceptance rate?

Anyone have any thoughts?

Avg for transfer to wharton is 3.79 avg last year.
Great GPA there, but I’m just wondering how much do they factor into SAT scores,
cos those dont really look too convincing to me…

Nobody should ever expect an acceptance letter from Penn, unless you’re a recruited athlete or hardcore URM. As a transfer it will be a significant reach but your GPA is good. Like TheGrand said, I’m not sure on how they look at SAT scores and typical applicant stuff like that, but the dedication to music seems like a good place to start for extracurriculars. All you can do is apply and hope for the best, but don’t expect an acceptance as a transfer!

As Quaker said, you shouldn’t expect an acceptance anywhere. You do have a shot, but nothing stands out enough to make it certain.

I only put the word “expect” in the title to grab a few marginal views…you know. In all seriousness though…I heard SAT’s for transfers aren’t as important as college grades/mid year grades. My mid-year grades will be straight A’s. I’m really expecting a big fat rejection letter in April! haha

Anyone else have any thoughts before I delete this stupid thread?

Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst :)

Way ahead of you man.

how do u delete threads lol?

you have to be the OP

Acceptance? Surely you jest. Your SATs are dismal for the Ivies, let alone Wharton.

That maybe so…but don’t forget that SAT’s are much less important when transfering. College grades trump them…and my college GPA is a 4.0. On top of all that…people with less than stellar SAT’s can get in…and people with perfect scores are turned away!

I’m no expert, but I would imagine the inverse would be more likely: people with less than stellar SATs are turned away… and people with perfect scores get in.

Just my .02. Good luck though.

Gelco was just pointing out that an acceptance is not based purely off test scores. It is your entire application that they consider, not just scores. And he’s right, SAT scores are much less important compared to college GPA and ec’s/activities when applying as a transfer. Good luck to you Gelco!

Thanks man…I hope thats the case. I’ll keeping my fingers crossed for the next month!

I’m thinking a hill giant has stolen my Penn Portal.

Anything else
