should I explain my low grade?

I have a problem. My senior grades will be sent to colleges in about a week or so. I think about writing an explanation on why I got such a low grade in English class (B-). I am not a perfect student (GPA: 3.5). However, for the last three years I had a highest scores in English classes and I am extremely irritated right now. Most colleges that I have sent to are middle to high level ones and I am certain that they won't like such a decline( from A to B-). Now, I understand that universities don't want their students to whine about their low grades and still, should I send an explanation along with the transcript, or should I abstain from doing so? sorry for writing so much, I have registered a couple of minutes ago... thanks for support!

help please?

It depends on what you plan to say. It is almost never helpful to a student’s chances if the student explains his or her own blips on a transcript unless they are due to a medical issue or some external cause beyond the student’s control and of which the HS is unaware. On the other hand, if your GC provides the detail to put the low grade in context (there is room for this in the mid-year report), sometimes that will mitigate the impact of a low grade.

thank you, I will probably refer to my college counselor.

B- is fine. IMO
