Should I Explain This?

Hi. My class rank isn't super awesome because my school does class rank based on weighted GPA, and I don't have that many weighted classes on my transcript. This is because I have been taking post-AP classes for a couple years now from another school, and they only show up on that schools transcript, so even though my courseload is very rigorous, it isn't really reflected in my class rank. My grades are fine (1 B) and I'm sure my counselor marked "most rigorous courses" on the school report thing. Should I explain this circumstance to the schools I'm applying to (11 ivys)? They will see both transcripts. Right now my rank is exactly 5% but it will probably go down, because I'm in 4 AP classes vs other kids who are taking 7+, so they will have more weighted classes pulling up their 9th-11th GPA than I do.

11 ivys

How can you apply to 11 ivies when there are only 8??

As for your other issue, did your GC mention that you’re taking post AP classes that don’t get weighted like APs do?

Idk maybe, maybe not. They aren’t on my transcript at all. I’m sending a different transcript with them though (which doesn’t have my regular classes on it). Also I have one of my post-AP teachers writing me a rec, and I wrote an essay about the classes. So the ivies will definitely be aware of them, I just don’t know if having a relatively low class rank will get me disqualified or something.
