I'm not sure if I should file a complaint for what happened. During the beginning of the SAT subject test the proctor was reading off the instructions. Nearing the end of the instructions we were told to close our test booklets after answer the preliminary questions. So at that time I took the opportunity to ask to go to the bathroom as I figured he'd allow since everybody's booklet was closed and it seemed appropriate. Instead he gave me a dirty look, continued with the instructions and upon finishing and telling everybody to start(starting his test timer) he told me to go to the bathroom. I was upset that he had done this. Also upon returning from the bathroom he scorned me saying that I wasn't going to get any extra time so I should hurry back to my seat. I feel that this incident negatively affected my test results. Do I have reason to complain? Should I file a complaint?

I’m sorry you lost time on your test. However, I don’t believe you have a viable reason to file a complaint, since you chose to leave the room. The situation was within your control, since there is plenty of time before the test to use the restroom, and the test is only an hour long. If you were sick to you stomach or it was an emergency, I would just cancel your test results if you feel you did badly.

I don’t think that’s a valid reason to file a complaint (unless you were sick or something, as CookingBooking said). You should’ve used the restroom beforehand…

Save your time. As others said, this was within your control. He told you to go to the restroom, and you could have declined and started the test. You chose to leave.

I’m sorry about what happened, but use this as a lesson. I hope all goes well.

Totally your problem. The proctor was doing as he or she was instructed–not forbidding you to leave but not slowing down the test process because of your choice or allowing you to make up time. A complaint would only waste your time.
