Should I "fix" my sole C grade from freshman year?

I received a C grade in a freshman year digital media course (introductory course where you produce things on Photoshop, GarageBand, Dreamweaver, etc.), it stands as the only sub-A grade on my transcript.

I have the option of retaking the class thorough a mix of online assignments and correspondence. This won't cut into my regular school schedule.

It is a relatively easy course that is not very rigorous. I only received my poor grade because I was so overwhelmed with OS X and all of its software that I spent the class exploring the Mac and seeing what I could do on it.

Should I fix this poor grade or not? I'm almost certain I'll go through with this but I wanted some other opinions.

it would drive me crazy to look at a C in a class like that… I would “fix” it for sure

No. One C in Freshman year won’t really hurt you.

Digital Media does not sound like an academic class. Most colleges don’t pay much attention to non-academic grades. Do something better with your time.

Wouldn’t the grade still remain on your transcript? Removing it would be fraudulent.

It would be swapped out with the more recent grade.

The new date would show, though.

. . . Then wouldn’t colleges wonder why you didn’t have a sixth class freshman year?

I’m not a student in the U.S.

For me, high school actually started in 8th grade and this one course is the only 9th grade course I took in 8th grade. Our transcripts don’t list 8th grade marks.

So it was really a pre-freshman class. In the end it won’t look like I chose to not take a class. Besides, we take eight courses a year here.

It’s complicated but I can basically re-do the course with little consequence.

In that case, do it! Some colleges really care a lot about grades, and even if this isn’t an “academic” class, they will still see a C as indicative of a lack of work ethic (or other flaw). If you’re applying to elite colleges, this might be very important. In fact, if there’s some indication on your transcript that you’ve retaken the class, colleges might view this as confirmation that you’re dedicated to schoolwork.

some colleges dont even look at freshman grades.
