I agree with @blevine.
You can always make an easy school more challenging (especially at a decent research U like Miami). It’s harder to make a tough school easier or less stressful (unless you go down an easier path that takes you away from your goal).
Talk to profs about research opportunities. If clue are dead, revive them or make new ones and attract new members (and develop skills that way; also gives you something to talk about on interviews or put on your resume). See every situation as an opportunity rather than a drawback.
You must know the other scholarship recipients in your cohort. Why not try to hang out with them or ask them what they are doing?
Miami has an honors college, right? How are the kids in that?
BTW, I think you’ll find that USC has a very similar culture to Miami.
