Should I get a laptop or tablet?

I have about $600 and i don't know whether i should get the samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition or hp envy touchsmart sleekbook. I was planning on getting a tablet for this semester and for next school year i would get the lenovo yoga pro 2. I'm a college student so i was planning on using the tablet to take notes and for my online class. I have two online classes so is it better to get a laptop or tablet.
If i were to get the tablet, which tablet should i get?
I was thinking of getting the samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition but is it worth it? The ipad air is $50 less than the note. Or should i get the microsoft surface? I have two online classes this semester so which tablet should i get. This is just temporary til i can get the lenovo yoga pro 2 next school year.

Honestly, I would just get the laptop. You may have to write papers and let me tell you, writing a paper on a tablet is no joke lol. I tried to write a paper on my iPad Mini and I just couldn’t do it. Same thing for taking notes, laptop would be better.

Tablets are very hard to write on, although they’re ok with an external keyboard.

Why not an iPad?

Tablets can be easy to write on if you get the right ones but sometimes you need a screen protector to give a better surface though.

If you have a limited budget, Apple products are not the way to go.
If this is going to be your primary computing device, go for a laptop. Since you say you are taking 2 online classes, you are going to want a more multi-purpose device than what a tablet can offer you. If this is to be a holdover device only (i.e., you don’t think you’ll use it much after getting the Yoga), your best bet would probably be to save for the Yoga and buy a cheap laptop now. Plenty of <$300 laptops will meet the needs of most college students for classes. Depending on your needs, you might be able to get a Chromebook, which would be your cheapest option.

@nanotechnology they can always go the used route. I wouldn’t suggest chromebook, you can’t install things like Microsoft Office because it’s an entirely online system (if that makes any sense) and you would need more than what the chromebook has to offer. There are plenty of Windows laptops that are equal to or less than $300.

Go to ebay.com

look up the following models:

Fujitsu Lifebook T901
Fujitsu Lifebook T900
Fujitsu Lifebook T5010

Those are all great tablets for taking notes. They all use Wacom technology.
