I’m taking the SAT Chemistry test in May and I’m also taking the AP Chemistry test in May. So I bought a AP Chemistry book and thought that’d be sufficient. But now I see that the SAT questions are very different from the AP questions. So should I get an SAT Chem book that’ll teach me the strategies for the test as well as the material? Or would the AP book be enough?
@dsi411 I have the Barron’s 12th edition and I find it quite good. It has a good chapter review section of all the content on the test along with 4 practice tests. I have heard that the practice tests are harder than the real thing. Also remember that an AP book tests college material, not the high school content of the SAT.
@greeneggsandsam9 Do you mean you have the prep book for the AP test or for the SAT 2? And since the AP test is harder, the AP book should be enough?
I’d recommend Kaplan’s SAT Chemistry book. It’s really good. Alternatively, Barron’s SAT Chemistry is fine, but too superfluous. The Princeton Review SAT Chemistry is also good.
I have the prep book for the sat. I’m not in ap chem our school doesn’t have it
Sigh. It didnt post my full comment. You should take a practice test to see if you need a sat prep book or not.
I took the AP and SAT exams in 2013 and thought they were about the same format and questions. I did go through a rigorous AP course that prepared me well enough for the AP exam (I had an hour left over on the MC section and 45 minutes left over on the FR section). The SAT test was much easier, so you can decide for yourself
I believe the collegeboard site has some practice tests?
Thanks guys. I guess my AP book will be enough, then.
