Should I get hand-score verification?

For this December test, I got a composite of 27.
E22
M27
R31
S26

I remember I made just a bit of smudges that are not really noticable.
I'm confused because I was really confident about both English and Math sections after the test, expected 30ish on both of them.(which didn't turn out that way)
Strange part is, I got just about what I expected on both Reading and Science sections.

I made my mind that I won't take ACT again, meaning this was my last try.
Is there anyone who got better grades on ACT by hand-scoring?
Do you guys think it's worth it?
Should I do it just to see??????

Did you take previous practice tests from a reputable source and scored 30+ on the English and math sections for those? If so, then go ahead and get them hand verified if you’re positive that they were mis-marked. Otherwise, confidence may be misleading. If you’re not a senior, then just take the test again. It costs the same to retake it as it does to hand verify it anyways.

I think if you feel that you did better then go for it. I also just sent my form in for it, mainly since after looking at the consolidated science test list the day I took the test, I was certain I would get a great score since all my answers were the same-I also know that I did alot of erasing on that section. Lastly, I also know that it was my first and last test (senior), so I’m hopeful it will give me back a point or two.

If you ask for hand-score verification, can you score go down?

Smudges need to be very significant to affect your score. Like almost comparably dark to your mark. I always worried about smudges, but they have not affected my score.
