Should I get my Associates Degree?

So, I'm a senior in high school and I've taken 40 credits this year at my community college. I'm taking about 20 credits in the Summer so I'll only need one-two more classes to get an associates in Liberal Arts --- I was thinking of concurrently enrolling in the Fall and then doing distance education courses.

Should I get my Associates? I'm going to a Liberal Arts college for a year and then most likely transferring out.

How will it look like on my transfer admission application if it shows that I'm getting a Bachelors, but was able to complete an Associates in about a year? I would have the degree by the time I start applying as a transfer.

Thanks.

I’m sorry, I think I misunderstood. You’re completing an AA program while concurrently enrolled in a BA program?

An AA shows that you’ve done about 2 years worth of college coursework. If you transfer, depending on which credits transfer(There are some schools that don’t take classes earned via dual enrollment), you will be eligible for junior standing.

if you are planning to transfer anyways and will be at your city college, then yeah get your AA, why not? If not then don’t go out of your way just to have it

Let me clarify.

I am currently a Senior in HIGH SCHOOL, and I can attain my Associates degree by this Summer, BEFORE I enter a four-year private liberal art college.

I am wondering if when I transfer to a different school next year, will the general requirements that I earned be transferred to the new college? Like, can they dip into my old degree and use those credits to satisfy a Bachelor’s degree?

Thanks.

Find out if the credit courses are transferable with the college you plan on attending. Also, it’s not a bad idea at all to get your AA before applying to the other school.

Most general courses are accepted, but some schools require more classes depending on the degree. So if your missing class X from your general requirements of the second school but don’t need it for the first, I believe you will need to take that course when you begin in the second school.

Why not just visit the school’s website or call and ask an adviser there?

As a transfer student myself, I would say YES go get it. If its not too much for you to handle(you said you already completed most of it), then do it. I’ll be graduating with two AA degrees before I transfer this fall. Seeing the “time” we are in, everybody is trying to be as competitive as possible when trying to get internships and what not, having a AA degree wont be as good as having previous experience, but its better than having nothing under your belt. And it def does not hurt you in anyway unless you have to take a ridiculous amount of units in order to get that AA. You already said you would be taking 20 units this summer right? Meaning with or without the AA degree you would take it?

And I would MAKE SURE that my 40 units already get transferred over(at least most of them), because if not, then why did you take them? (unless you were in some sort of middle college program or something)
