I was surprised to find that I received a 640 on the math portion of the SAT. This surprised me because I normally get anywhere from 730-780 on practice tests. Now I have a feeling that I put 10 grid-in answers in the wrong spot. I remember that I was confused as to where I put the grid-in questions, so I just put the answers on the previous page. I had 4 math sections and two had grid-ins.

My question is how should I go about remonstrating this? Will the SAT score verification give me credit for my answers even if they might have been in the wrong location? Is there anyway to invalidate such scores? Also, is a -10 equivalent to a 640? After I took the SAT, I compared my answers with those of other people and was sure I'd only gotten one problem wrong (it was a MC question).

Yeah, if you had your answers on a different page then you didn’t do it right. You should get it verified, but since it was your fault, and not faulty grading, you won’t get your money back, but for that many questions it is totally worth it.

If I do decide to get my score verified, will Collegeboard definitely change my math score but not give me a refund? My parents are paranoid about CB not changing my math score. They say that CB will formulate an excuse and refuse to give me the points I deserve.

My score report says that I omitted 10 math questions and got 1 wrong!!! I’m 100 percent certain that I answered all questions. I think I did put my grid-in answers in the wrong spot!
Should I order score verification?! Will CB change my score? I called Customer Service, but I could barely hear the lady (my phone’s malfunctioning). I think she said that CB will change my score even though my grid-in answers are in the wrong spot.

You could always argue, but I really doubt they would give you the points that you deserve. I sympathize with you that you put it in the wrong section, but you have to realize that your wrong answers were at a complete fault of your own, not college board. Score Verification also takes 3-5 weeks to get processed; it costs some money as well.
I really think you deserve the points, but the chances you’ll actually get them is slim.

This is so distressing! I think this is what happened:
I think that one of the math sections was Section 6, but I wrote the grid-ins in the Section 4 and 5 grid-in part (on the previous page).

I was really confused because I had two math sections in a row and didn’t know if the next one was going to be math with grid-in questions too.

Should I even bother ordering score verification? Please help!!

CB said “may change” instead of “will change.” Should I ignore the insinuation CB made about not changing peoples’ scores even though their mistakes are within collegeboard’s rules?
