Should I give up on Ivy dreams?

sooo how about I take the ACT and get a 30 and only send that score???

Isn’t the next ACT test date on February 12, which means that you won’t get the scores sent in until March? I doubt that any of the Ivy’s will accept that.

There are plenty of good non-Ivy colleges

the SAT effed me over damnn. ■■■. I wish my practice test scores could be considered lol ■■■ ■■■ ■■■

Futuresuccess, you only have one day left to apply to most schools of the caliber you desire. If I were you, I’d stop agonizing over your SAT scores and get your essays and everything else straightened up so that you have a chance at a decent college. An 1840 is by no means a bad score. While it is low for the Ivies et al, it’s certainly high enough for your state’s flagship schools and other good universities. If I might ask, where are you planning on applying/applied?

only two of them are ivys, columbia and cornell. I applied to them already becuase I was under the assumption that I would score over a 2000 on the SAT because thats what CB prac tests were implying. I applied to Columbia, Cornell, Syracuse, Stonybrook, Binghampton, New PAltz, RIT, City College, Fairfield University, Fairleigh Dickinson Uni, Alfred Uni, Suny Albany, and Suny Buffalo

I’d say you have a good shot at most of those, except Cornell and Columbia.

futuresuccess, I don’t know who you are, but by reading your thread I can tell I have been a lot like you the last few months worrying about my SAT scores if they were good enough, if I measured up, and if the Ivy League would look down at me.

But at the end of the day ask yourself, WHY does your dream have to be limited to Columbia or Cornell? If its for because of rankings, people’s expectations, or “prestige” status, I recommend you to put this book in your 2011 reading list.

[The Overachievers, Alexandra Robbins, (9781401309022) Paperback - Barnes & Noble](http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Overachievers/Alexandra-Robbins/e/9781401309022)

I read this book over my semester break; when I finished, I felt a burden being lifted off my shoulders. Maybe it’ll do the same for you. In any case, good luck with all thirteen of your applications. If you’re worrying about if you should retake the SAT, just do it. Its $40 v. regret for the next four years.

^^^You have a good chance at all those with the exceptions of Columbia and Cornell.

Is there any chance whatsoever that columbia nd cornell will accept march sat scores?

Ohh got chu

My best advice would be to work hard wherever you end up going and to try again in graduate school.

Thanks for all the input. It was greatly appreciated.

You have taken the SAT three times now with the same results. There is almost no chance of doing much better on a fourth, fifth or sixth attempt. You need to come to terms with the fact that 1,840 is probably about the best score you are capable of. That is well above average and you should be competitive at all the schools you applied to except Cornell and Columbia.

Unless you are a recruited athlete 1,840 is not competitive for the Ivies. You need to put this into perspective. Two million students will be applying to colleges and universities this year in the United States. Of these, only a few thousand are going to have SAT scores that will get them into an Ivy League school. I know it is painful to be forced to accept the fact that there are people who can do things that you can not do and will have opportunities that are not open to you. You are going to have to learn to deal with it because you will be confronted by these situations throughout your life.

You will not be going to an Ivy league school nest fall, just like more than 99.99% of the rest of this year’s college applicants. You will get accepted at a good school and if you make the most of that opportunity, rather than obsess over the Ivy League schools and SAT scores, you can still be very much a future success.

^ Or you could just go to an Ivy for graduate school, which is a more prudent decision.

Nah I’m deff capable of a 2000+. No doubt whatsoever. I know for sure. But i’ll deal with what i have.

don’t listen to what people tell you. You stated yourself that you think you can do better. You took it three times already, it won’t really matter if its 3 or 4th time.

You must shift your attitude. It is a live or die situation. So make the most out of the 3 weeks you have left. Make the most out of every minute, and take one last shot. Just like applying to Ivy leagues, you never know if you have the chance or not unless you try. If you don’t try there is no chance of getting a higher score.

Good luck.

I think your reaction more than your score disqualifies you for ivies and their peers.

Sorry, but move on. You’ll get into a good school. Ivies are not the only good schools in the nation.
