It seems no matter how hard I try, I keep doing not as good in the classes. I find the subject of science really interesting but when it comes to the classes, I don’t like the way it is presented.
I haven’t really had any computer science classes but I have had a few math classes and physics which I did well in. I’m taking a few programming programs online this summer. How do I know if this will be a good fit? I already wasted 3 years in college, I can’t afford to waste anymore time.
Really, the only way is to learn more about it. You can try to take at least one class in the field. You can read a lot about it online, talk to people who were CS majors themselves, etc., but the only way to really know whether you’ll like it or not is to dive right in.
You have to remember that science is a method and a process, not a content area. Scientists re scientists because they use the scientific method to investigate scientific phenomena, but that’s the only thing really tying together the “sciences.” Otherwise, just because you love physics doesn’t mean you’d like chemistry and vice versa. Still, if you find science interesting from a distance, does your college have a major in something like science, technology, and society?
What do you like? Which classes have you enjoyed the most?
