should i give up waiting?

I received a letter saying I was academically and physically qualified, however I did not receieve a rejection letter nor an acceptance letter. I had a medical disqualification that requires a waiver. This waiver was passed by the ROTC side, however I did not hear back from West Point. Do you think that the process is taking longer because they have to go through the waiver process?

Thats interesting. I have the same exact situation. I was medically DQ'd a while ago, but last friday most of my medical stuff passed USMA. I'm waiting to hear if my flat feet (Pes Planus) gets through even though army and air force rotc both passed the issue. I'm academically and physically qualified too. I'm wondering the same thing man. I guess we should just try and think positvely right?? We'll see...

im happy to hear im not the only one in this situation. Thinking positive wouldn't hurt. But how did you hear from USMA saying you were medically qualified in those areas? I didn't hear back from them at all.

Well for me... I had the same exact medical disqualifications for USMA, USAFA, Army ROTC, and Air Force ROTC. I was medically DQ'd from them, and had to do basically the same work with the doctors to try and get the issues cleared up. Some cleared more easily than others depending on the branch and if it was ROTC or USMA. However, since my "rebuttal" nothing has been posted on the site. All I know from them is that I got a letter from USMA saying that I was DQ'd for these things and good luck next year. I immediatly called me admissions officer and he said to go ahead and try to get it reviewed by USMA. We got all the paperwork together asap and have been waiting for months with nothing from the doctors. Last friday I found out that everything one one issue (my flat feet) passed medical. My admissions officer said that they should look at my feet "problems" sometime this upcoming week. So to answer your question, there has been little or no contact other than what I've initiated. It's been really tough- I just hope it all pays off. Interesting to know that there's others in the exact same situation. Does that help at all??

The waiver process can take a very long time. It's a good sign that ROTC gave you a waiver, so that means that the condition cannot be all that bad. Try calling DoDMERB and asking about your condition, or try google, you'd be surprised at what you can find that way.

You never know, if they never sent you a letter saying that they were taking away your appointment (if you had an LOA), then you're still viable.

JJx508: Call WP admissions and ask them where you stand - they will give you honest feedback.
Good luck!

I haven't been offered an appointment yet due to the DODMERB and medical stuff. However, I'm hoping to hear something soon. I figure as long as I don't get the call or letter saying that I didn't go in, I'm still in the running. My admissions officer said that if medical gets cleared this year, but I still don't get in due to the huge amount of time it took to get passed, it should be valid next year and since I'm doing Army ROTC, I should be good for an appointment. We'll see!!

thanks for the input guys

do West Point even look at your AP scores?

Your AP scores will be looked at when it comes time for USMA to evaluate what level of classes to pace you in (assuming you submitted your AP scores). This will happen during Beast 1.

JJx508...has West Point requested a waiver? The ROTC waiver and the West Point waiver are obviously different. Call your MALO or connection in the Admissions' Office and find out if West Point ever started the waiver process. Last year the Naval Academy never even started the waiver process for my son, while West Point granted it almost immediately. You need to find out where you are in the process...Good luck!
