Ok, its probably too early to tell but I was wondering if I should give up on thinking I have a chance of getting into NYU when I am at the stage in my life to start applying to colleges and what not. Im a freshamn and I live in Long Island, New York (suburbs;suffolk). I get all 90's in my classes except for two classes usually. I play soccer and have a decent chance of making varsity as a soph. My grades arent unbelievable...I always end up with a 89+ average for the quarters but I am really good at standerized tests. I was an actor as a child and still have a SAG card. I want to become a sports broadcaster. Would going back into acting help my chances of getting in? Also, if you can tell that I don't have a chance at making NYU already please let me know of other good schools for broadcasting. Like I said before, I know that it is probably too early to tell but I figured why not ask. Thanks.

Don't worry, colleges don't look at freshmen grades that much. Theatre schools look at your talent a lot more then your grades.

Syracuse University is good for Sports Broadcasting.

Should I start doing plays?

It's de facto requirement for admission to most acting programs.

May I recomend you check out the Arts and Musical Theatre boards under the college major section.

would being a former actor help at all?

Yes
(10 chars)

Sorry for asking, but what are chars?

You can only post if your post has more than 10 characters. For responses that are just "Yes" or something, you can't post so people put "10 characters" or "10 chars" at the end of it.

Oh, ok...thanks for letting me know.

chars = charecters (letters)
There is mininum of 10 charecters in any posting here.

You still have a good chance at NYU--you have 2 more years to boost that GPA, and do well on your ACT/SAT.
