Should I go for Emory ED2 or not?

So i really want to go to Emory, but that's just my impression after I read the brochure and watched the DVD. I also really want to go to NYU cause my brother lives there. But i don't want to let the location hinder my acceptance rate (assuming that ED2 has a higher acceptance rate). What should I do?
Whats the most special thing about Emory?

My stats are"
ACT 31
SAT2 chinese 800
math 2c 660 math 1c 680
bio E 650

I'm the concertmaster of our orchestra. I'm very devoted to violin and i've made all-state orchestra for the past two years.

So my stats aren't great. Do I even have a chance to get into Emory? if not, i'll just apply ED, since i won't get in anyway.

What about your grades? Your test scores are fine.

GPA
unweighted 3.92
Weighted 4.2
class rank unweighted top 10%
weighted top 2%

I'm from a rural, but suprisingly musical high school. Every year we usually send one or two students to Washington U, Vanderbilt. But rarely behond those regions. I 'm applying to a lot of the east and west coast schools becuse i moved here from Taiwan 3 yrs ago. So I don't have that "root" problem.

Apply RD to Oxford College of Emory University as a safety. You'll get a small college 2-year experience, and then a larger university experience at Emory. There is no paperwork to make the transition from Oxford to Emory.

Here's the link: http://www.emory.edu/OXFORD/

emory definitely gives a boost to ED, so if you like the school, go for it. While Oxford is definitely an easier admit, you can still apply to Oxford later if you are rejected or deferred from Emory. Indeed, the letter from Emory will even mention Oxford.

Suburban Atlanta is NOT the big city life, however.

Good luck.

Emory is a match RD, safe match ED.

I wouldnt necessarily say safe match ED but you have a good shot either way. Only apply ED if you won't be disappoited if you got into NYU and still had to go to Emory. Emory is a great school and an ED boost with definitely help.

this is what i know about Emory just by reading Fiske Guide and watching the DVD:
Fairly well known
great professors
fraternity party scenes
Good pre-med (i plan on going to medical school)
Great location, good weather (is Atlanta humid? like houston or san antonio?)
Pretty Campus
83% out of state students ( there are people from the upper states: NY, MA, PA)
mid-size undergraduates (i love the mid-size universities)
has a big LAC feel

Anymore?? any specific and unique things?

Betterday- Atlanta can be pretty hot and humid, but not as bad as Texas, because it's about 1500 feet or so in elevation I think, maybe more. In the summer, it can be somewhat sticky, but in the Spring and Fall, Atlanta is wonderful.

so i guess its not LA weather

is NYU a slight reach for me?

Slight reach to match school.

aaaahhh this is so frustrating, just like last time when i had to pick All-state orchestra over taking the SAT. I guess i'll pick Emory, it seems like the location of nyu is the only reason i'm hesitating.
