Should I go for it?

Ok so here is the deal. I need some advice whether I should risk Columbia and go for HYSPMC...etc

I am heavily affiliated with columbia (legacy, donor, etc...) and I know if I apply ED I will get in; my brother who had <2000 SAT / top 10% (he partied a lot) got in, and he has the same connections as I do - also my sister got into Columbia with 2060 SAT/ top 10%. Keep in mind they both applied ED.

I have 2250 SAT / valedictorian / 2400 SATII, so I am pretty much a shoe in ED at columbia.

Now here is the predicament. I would really like to go to HYPSMC, not just because of prestige, but to sort of break out of the family circle. Don't get me wrong, I love my family, but going to school with my family is starting to get on my nerves, as we are constantly compared to each other. I would like to break the cycle and go to a different school of comparable prestige.

So my question to you, with my credentials, would you recommend not applying ED to Columbia (if I did, I would be accepted and locked in) and going for HYPSMC? Do you think it is a worth a shot, or is too big of a risk gambling Columbia?

I would probably SCEA Harvard, or EA MIT/CalTech, and because I won't be applying ED to Columbia, I won't be guaranteed acceptance.

BTW here are the stats:

800M (got 800 last time, and probably again this time)
700CR (probably scored 730 hopefully today though)
730W (got 750+ today though I think)

800 Math II
800 Physics
800 Chemistry (I think these good subject tests help a lot)

Rank: 1/50 (private college-prep HS)

AP:
Chem 5
Physics B 5
Calc BC 5
Calc AB 5
Stat 5
Bio ??
English Lit ??
Vergil ??
USH 4
Physics C??

Honors Multivariate Calculus at Columbia. (hope this sets me apart)

ECs:

heavily involved in sports. 4 years Baseball, basketball, leadership stuff, etc... pretty good

Essays: hopefully great, having a professional read them over

sheep get sheared, but that’s nearly as sad I think (better to die than suffer humiliation like that).

You should risk it because you are already planning too, and if you don’t you will regret it, and if you do and the risk turns out to not pay off, then you might learn a valuable life lesson.

You are just looking for the green light or something to go ahead and do the thing that your going to do anyways, maybe? Or would you honestly consider applying to Columbia ED?

(if you are looking for chances this is not the sub-forum for that; and somehow I think people smart like you should be able to figure the chances out, so I don’t think it’s about the chances in the end for you).

I find your high SAT score in your location space to be a bit obnoxious :/.
