I am wondering whether to apply SCEA to Stanford. My case is a rather special one. First of all, I am an international applicant. Moreover, I already applied to Stanford last year and was not admitted. This year I will be applying to Stanford again, plus Harvard and Princeton (and some others). Stanford is my top choice, so SCEA would be fine. However, I am not sure if the fact that I was denied admission last year would wipe out any chances I would gain through SCEA. Maybe I should thus rather try EA at Princeton/Harvard?

I personally doubt that your chances are reduced because of a previous application. In your application, you should address how you have matured/grown/whatever in the past year. Show Stanford that you have eagerness to learn and that you are passionate about something in your life.

Unfortunately, I have not spoken to any admissions people so I don't know their stance, but this is the feeling I get. Just wanted to post it here in case you wanted to hear it. Good luck!
