I want to apply to law school. However, I know they really care about your gpa. ShouldI go to a school that challenges me ? But take shots at my gpa? Please help.
We can’t help you with this. You already know that GPA is important for law school. You need to go where you will learn how to think critically so you do well on the LSAT.
Given that there is no answer to this (Erin’s Dad is right), how about defaulting to other, arguably more important criteria like: 1) can we afford it and still pay for law school afterwards and 2) where will I find the best fit for my learning and social style and 3) what am I trying to get out of my college experience besides prep for law school and 4) if I change my career goals, what school will best help me prepare for life generally?
Your GPA will not depend solely on academics. There is a lot of “fit,” time management, level of challenge, participation of classmates, standardized versus personal assessment, overall mood and mental state, etc. that goes into what grades you receive. Could you imagine going to what you perceive as a less challenging school, and then getting low grades and a low LSAT?
In that scenario you would be left with nothing but a wasted 4 years of your life.
You guys are so helpful! Thank you all.
You need to go to a law school that is challenging yet would help you have high gpa Being challenged doesn’t necessarily means that you’ll get low grades, it somehow means that you’ll be challenged to study hard to have high grades
^ The OP is asking about what kind of school to attend for undergrad BEFORE law school.
