Should I Go to a Community College While Waiting to Go to a Four year College?

Hello all

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to go to a community college while I'm waiting to go to a 4 year school would the credits earned be worth it. would it affect the freshmen applications I submitted a little while ago, would I have to reapply to the four year schools I applied to using the transfer applications.

Are you in high school, or have you graduated from high school?

Attending any college after high school graduation can cause many colleges to require you to take the transfer path rather than the frosh path. But many students take college courses while still in high school without being forced to take the transfer path.

Thanks for the info I thought I might have to go the transfer route if I did that but I already applied to a few colleges, and no I graduated already.

If you take college courses now (after HS graduation), then you may have to take the transfer path.

You need to ask each of the 4-year colleges/universities on your list whether or not taking classes (and if so how many classes/credits) after HS graduation will make you a transfer applicant. Each place sets its own policy. For some, provided you have not completed a full year’s worth of credits, you are still a freshman applicant. For others, even one credit earned after HS graduation will make you a transfer.
