ok, so this has been REALLY bugging me!

I'm a highschool senior and I have pretty decent grades, my avergae is around a 3.4, and my goal is to earn a degree in animal science, but the school i really wanted to get into, UC Davis, didn't accept me. So my other choices are UC Riverside and Cal State Poly Pomona which I guess are good schools, but I still keep feeling that I could better.

I thought about accepting one of those schools and then transfering to Davis later but after some research I learned that it is extremely difficult to do that, and I'm afraid of being rejected and being stuck in school I hate. I know that if you attend a 2 year community college you are guaranteed acceptance to a UC so I'm wondering if thats the route I should take, because I really have my heart set on Davis.

So should i go to a community college?, Will it be hard to adjust to a UC after attending a CC?, Would I loose the "college experience" I would get from a 4-year university? Should I take a chance and try transfering from another UC or CSU? or Should I just suck it up and go to another school because Davis isn't that great anyway?

I know these are a lot of questions but if anybody has any info or personal experience they can share with me I would really appreciate it.

cool beans. i love these questions haha

okay my answer of going to a CC is yes. For the simple reasons that its cheaper and much easier to transfer over.

it might be hard going from CC to UC, it all depends on your work ethic. ive seen many cases where students excel even more, but also where many do bad the first semester but them pick themselves up. ive never seen someone transfer to their dream school and ■■■ it up for themselves after working so hard for 2 years.

It is very possible you will lose the “college experience” of drinking your head off and getting several STDs. however you can always still have the college experience after transferring but you wont be so…innocent. but really i do believe i missed the “college experience” but i wouldnt trade my 2 years at CC for it. Ive met some of the best people in my life. Everyone has different experiences and attitudes towards the “college experience” so its really how you make of it or…make up for it.

I dont think you should take the chance of going to UC to UC or CSU to UC. What do you gain from this, aside from the college experience? Some people will argue it was a good one, but some will also argue it was horrible. Also entirely up to you.

Go to Davis. if thats where you want to go. going a 2nd choice school will never compare to getting accepted to your first choice. maybe youll end up liking/hating your 2nd choice, but it seems like you are pretty set on davis. go to davis :)

Yeah it’s a great way to save money but keep your college dreams.
