I have applied to several colleges, and around 8 of them have the option to request an interview. Is it a good idea to interview with all of these colleges, or would i be spreading myself thin? Should I just focus on a few colleges? I feel like I might look better on paper and get nervous at the interview so it may end up hurting more than helping me.
If they are LACs, it is important to demonstrate interest and participating in interviews can be a way to do that.
It depends on the college, of course, but to a certain extent you are interviewing them. If you are nervous about it, ask your GC to help you set up a practice interview. Your first one might seem a little scary, but many students relax after the first one. So, yes, generally speaking you should do as many of them as you can, IMO.
The consideration of “level of applicant’s interest” is not unique to LACs. Check the school’s common data set (section C7) or its admissions tab on http://www.collegedata.com to see if that is considered.
Would you have to travel to those interviews, or would you be meeting a local alum at a coffee shop? Take that into consideration too.
