Should I go to college with my twin?

I have a twin brother, and we are very close. We are not sure if we want to split up for college or not. We don’t want to see each other every day, but we are not sure if we want to go to completely separate college. I was wondering if there were any other twins out there who could help give me their opinion.

Is the college small or large? Will you be in different majors?

My kids aren’t twins, but they did go to the same undergrad and overlapped for 2 years. Although they were both STEM majors, they only saw each other when they planned to. They planned a weekly Tuesday lunch, and during 2 semesters, they decided to take Spanish and Italian classes together.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t have ran into each other much at all on their large campus. Very unlike their high school where they saw each other all the time.

I would. That is the only time left for two of you being together. The chance that You will find jobs at the same companies is low.

Just split up into different dorms or if a large dorm, different floors. As others said, you can develop different circles of friends but also see each other when you want to.

There is no one right answer. It’s possible to go separately, yet keep in touch via Skype. Or to go together but still have separate interests and classes. It’s all in what you two feel you want.

My kids both go to schools at the Claremont Consortium. So technically, they are at different schools, but effectively it’s like the same campus. They have one class together and study together for it. They might meet up for a meal occasionally or simply run into each other. OTOH they have their own friends and their own lives.

It’s all in what you make of it.

ETA: My kids are not twins but there is a 2 year overlap they will be in college together.
