I live in NYC and I got into both NYU LSP and BU CAS but NYU is kind of on the expensive side while BU gave me a $26,000 scholarship. I don't want to go away but at the same time I really want to experience living on a college campus. I'm just asking for opinions I'm definitely going to make my own decisions but I just want some insight. I'm leaning more towards NYU but I still want to consider BU. Thank you!

Well, do you have an idea of what you want to major in?

For most things I’d say NYU is a better school than BU, but BU seems like a financially sound option…

I would go with BU.

I am from Boston and have been around BU my whole childhood. BU is a fantastic school, academics and social life considered, and the city of Boston is a great place to have your college experience in. It really comes down to the energy you feel when you’re at both schools. BU is urban and actually doesn’t have much of a “campus” per say (not too many green quads to throw a frisbee around in), but it definitely has more campus than NYU. I actually was just accepted as a transfer to NYU, so I may be biased but New York City really is the best campus for a city person, which I am. Of course, there are many other factors that should be considered such as the strength of the program you would be attending, need to be close to home, etc. I will give you the insight that after going away from home to New York thinking I would have no problems, I ended up missing home and my parents much more than I would have thought. It is really a great thing to be able to go home on a whim, but also a great growth experience to be living so far away that you have to almost completely take care of yourself. All things considered, BU is a fantastic school and they have obviously given you a substantial amount of money ($26,000 per year, correct? Pretty much unheard of for BU), but if you are looking for the better school as well as where I think most people will have a more amazing college experience, I would choose NYU.

depending on what you’re studying, I’d probably suggest BU with the money considered - and also, LSP is kind of unfortunate, but I suppose it’s not a big deal.
