Should I go to private school because of Bush

I've been seeing these news headlines of how the president plans on cutting the countries deficit, and some of the biggest issues have been in the decrease of funding to education. It seems as if the amount of funding from the government to public colleges has been going down quite a bit. Should I go to a private school instead because of this?

if you're concerned about money, apply to both private and public. See what type of financial aid you might get from private schools. It might end up being similar costing in the end.

And dont forget, by the time you graduate, Bush will be a gonner.

Last week the Republican Congress introduced a deficit reduction program which cut funding for federal financial aid by 12.1 billion dollars during the next 6 years, representing the largest decrease ever for this program. In a 216-214 vote, the bill passed, meaning that in coming years, Federal Financial Aid will see some cuts. Likely, the qualifications for receiving aid will become more stringent. However, this really has no effect on the amount of funding that public universities get. These univiersites receive most of their money from in state, often from state lotteries, or direct budget block grants from state legislatures. Furthermore, many large state universities have huge endowments that allow them to remain competitive in all fields, including the sciences. As an example, the University of Florida still receives several million dollars in royalties from their creation of gatorade. Finally, President Bush has announced no plans to cut actual funding to state universitis. Many of these schools receive science research grants from federal agencies, not from congress itself. President Bush has actually said he wants to spend more to keep American scientifically competetive with Asia. With all this said, I don't think you have much to worry about in regards to public schools losing their value. You might want to consider the implications of a potential reduction in federal financial aid benefits.

good luck

public schools don't recieve that much $$ directly from the federal government for "education", i.e., teaching students. Instead, federal $$ to colleges is in the form of research grants to profs....

On a side note, Bush also killed the dinosaurs. Every single thing wrong with the world is entirely America's fault, and Bush has never, ever done a single thing right. Grow up, people, and stop blaming him for everything thats wrong.

"On a side note, Bush also killed the dinosaurs."

OMG! He did?! Damn him!!

jsmith don't even start.

We have a right to contend with outrageous wars fought on specious claims that benefit a certain vice president's company.

He's the President-he has the power and must answer for his mistakes.

Outrageous wars? You are blind to the REAL war. The culture war that is MUCh bigger. You think this is only about Iraq?

Yes, I am aware of that.

But thanks for reading into one post.

Please forgive me for not checking into your post history.

You overreacted about my perceived political ideologies based on an offhanded remark.

But that's ok.
