Should I go to UCR's summer session?

I have been admitted to UCR as a Fall 2009 Freshman.
Am wondering should I take its summer courses this summer?
AND what course(s) should I take?
My friend suggests me to take a writing class since it's very important in universities.
What do you guys think? Hmmm..

English be good class to take, but I would just take classes at the local CC.

no, dont take your English class at a community college, it will NOT count, unless u are a transfer student. If you got placed in English 4 or 5 you should consider attending summer school. If you got placed in 1A, then you are in the right track, and you should not go to summer school.
Theres a summer program for incoming freshmn who do not pass the placement test. Its called Summer Bridge. They will tell u more about it u attend an early orientation. I would consider it, especially since most students get financial aid. ( my sister and i did this program and we both got everything paid for)
Just a reminder, not all community classes transfer, keep that in mind. Some are much easier at a cc, and ucr will not accept them. If you still decide to go to cc for any other class then you have to check with ur department before you enroll.
