Im weighing my decision whether i should go to uiuc for pre-pharmacy and also try to transfer into engineering. If i do pharmacy, I'm thinking about majoring in bio, chem or biochem. Another option would be to go to a CC and transfer to a 4 year and then going to pharmacy school. I need a high GPA for both options for admission to pharm school. Going to a CC would save a lot of money cuz im out of state for uiuc but I dont think there are any guarantees that I will transfer to a good 4 year college. Is UIUC decent for prepharmacy? Please give me some advice. Thanks in advance!

Since you plan on continuing your education afterwards, I’d go to a CC and then transfer. Save your money. Since you’re continuing your education anyway, your undergraduate school won’t matter as much. And do you want to do pharmacy or engineering? Because those fields are very different. I should warn you, transferring from DGS to Engineering is no small feat due to the competition.
Overall, UIUC is best for those who want to go into Engineering or Business. Everything else is also good but not to the caliber of Engineering and Business. .

The CC option is good but Im afraid of missing out on the college experience. I feel like uiuc would prepare me better but its also very costly…

Oh I see. Well if I was in your shoes, I’d do my best to save money for pharmacy school. UIUC OOS tuition is steep. You can still have that college experience when you transfer, but if its very important to you and you can afford it, then by all means go for it! Don’t want you to feel like you’re missing out. But keep in mind how this will effect you in the future-especially financially. Graduate school is pretty expensive, and it’ll be a pain to pay for it.

You make a really good point actually about the financial stuff. I really want to go to UIUC but CC seems like the best option. Sigh…
