Should i go to university of flordia if im paying out of state tuition?

Hi I live in NYC and I was looking into the University of florida and UB as my first choices the thing is I know that Florida seems like more of a fit to me but out of state tuition would cost around 40k. I was wondering if 1. do they offer more financial aid to students that are out of state and 2.would it be worth the 40k if I do decide to go

UF offers a limited amount of competitive OOS merit scholarships (OOS tuition is $28,658 a year).

Out of State Tuition Scholarships

Recipients are selected from admitted freshmen who are non-Florida residents for tuition purposes. There is not a separate application for these scholarships, as all admitted students who apply by the November 1 priority deadline are considered eligible. The recipients are selected by a committee each spring and will be notified via e-mail and regular mail by the end of March. Due to our very strong freshman class and the limited number of scholarships we are able to award, our committee has a very challenging time making their selections.

There are three tiers of out-of-state scholarships, reducing the out-of-state tuition for selected students.

The dollar amounts are reflective of the awards made to members of the 2015 freshman class:
•Office of Admissions Alumni Scholarship: $8,000 per year
•Sunshine Scholarship: $16,000 per year
•Gator Nation Scholarship: $20,000 per year

You have several good in-state options, unless you get one of the scholarships, UF may not make financial sense.

Most public universities offer less aid and fewer scholarships to OOS students.

But it is a good school! Many people choose other good OOS flagships (UVA, UNC, Michigan) so if you can afford it, why not choose U Florida if you otherwise feel that it’s a good fit?
