Hello everyone Im a senior from a NJ school and I got into UCONN... so.... should I go??? I also got into Quinnipiac, Marist, waitlisted at Elon and still waited to hear from JMU. Tell me why UCONN stands out from other schools. Im really interested but not sure.... help me!!!!

If your talking about James Madison when you say JMU, that's the least selective of the bunch and your probably going to bet a better education at one of the other schools. Elon is the best but if you're waitlisted there's no guarantee. It's hard to get into UConn out of state, so I suppose you might consider this a special opportunity. I've heard Quinnipiac has a lot of older students, and that the younger ones are snotty anyways. I don't know anything about Marist. UConn has a lot of different options you could choose for your major and extracurricular activities, and a lot of school spirit. The success of the teams has brought a lot of money into the school so some great resources are there if you can take advantage of them; I don't know if you're science or what...

Don't be stupid...go to UConn.

id go to rutgers if i lived in nj but id choose uconn out of those choices..

hey! im from jersey too and im going to UConn! it seems like all the kids are right there on campus, always things going on, and its easy to get involved in the fun. It should be greattt you should gooooo! I applied to JMU and got in, and im choosing UConn

Consider yourself lucky if you're out of state and got into UCONN. Many of my D's friends (from CT) were rejected. It's a great University with a lot of things to do on campus not to mention the great academic curriculum. Congrats on getting accepted!!!

My D got accepted from out of State- Rhode Island. Biophysics Major.Considered Regional Student (New England) so discount on tuition. Only 1 1/2 hours away from home. Also, got accepted HONORS program Providence College Biochemistry w/ 15,000 scholarship per year. Any thoughts?

gettingaccepted--- I don't know much about Providence College but do know that UCONN has great science programs. My D was accepted into the pre-pharm program and we were thrilled. She just got accepted to Lehigh and now we don't know what to do. :/ But for your D I think UCONN over Providence-definitely. I have a friend whose D went to Providence and transferred b/c she thought it was too "catholic school". I do know others who love it there. I do not know of anyone who dislikes UCONN. :)

momsworried,
thank you for imput. My D goes to Catholic School so would do well in religion classes at any Catholic school. Hard to resist the PC $15,000 scholarship and Honors program. We visited UCONN and loved it. I graduated PC myself and really liked it. Many people telling her UCONN is great. Also, it has medical school that my D is interested in. So hard to decide. I read it is very hard to get into UCONN med school if not a resident of Connecticut. Almost impossible if you live out of state.

I appreciate any comments before she decides.
