I dropped my PreCal Pre-AP (like honors, to prepare you for AP Calc) class to switch to regular PreCal. The way GPA works at my school, an A in the regular class will be the same as a B in Pre-AP. But the regular class is A LOT easier!

I feel a little overachiever guilty because it's junior year, and I would otherwise be taking all advanced classes and grubbing the maximum amount of available GPA points.

I am not great at math. I could get good grades in an advanced class with A LOT of studying and focus, but it would be stressful.

I have a 4.4-4.5ish gpa, and at my school that is on the fringes of the top 10%.

Was it a decent decision to drop? Or should I go groveling to my counselor to switch me back? ;)

If it’s going to be stressful and you know that math is not your strong point, I would suggest that you keep it as it is now, especially since it may affect your grade in other classes.
Plus, regular Precalculus will not be regarded as all too different from Honors Precalculus.

Thanks for the input! I feel the same way.

It just bums me out when most of the kids in the regular class don’t really care at all. Kinda kills the atmosphere and makes me miss preap, lol.

As long as you’re able to take BC Calc next year it’s okay. Otherwise I would stick with the course which allows you to take BC.

Would it make a difference if I took AP Stats during senior year instead?

It’s more important for you to finish Calculus before graduating high school than Stat.

I suppose you’re right. Although my dad is a statistics professor, so AP Stats is pretty hard to turn down, lol. :)
