Should I include a note about extenuating circumstances in app?

Just wondering, soph yr I had a medical condition which affected my grades a bit. My math grade went down to an 80, and chem to a 88. other than that, al my grades have been a's.

I was thinking of saying at the bottom of my additional info page:
•Sophomore year-due to a medical issue (that was fully resolved later in the year), my grades (specifically math/science) suffered. Junior year I went back to maintaining my usual level of performance.

should I include this or will colleges wonder and then reject me?

I would suggest that you get your counselor to put this info in the evaluation or supplemental letter. Appeals to extenuating circumstances are often better voiced by someone that can be seen by the adcoms as independent. I’m not saying it wasn’t serious or doubting your story, its just that everyone has an incentive to play up the impact of such things and so having them raised by a 3rd party such as your counselor gives them more credibility.

What mikemac said. Word for word.

Well my GC already sent her rec in, and she said she didn’t nclude that. She asid she wanted to focus on the positives of my application, and all the things I do in the community.

Would it be ok if I just send in that note at the end of my resume? If the medical condition is personal, they wont call up and ask for it specifically, right?

bumping this i need a reply quick
