Should I include my blog as an EC?

I have a pretty prominent Tumblr blog with a principal focus on political and social issues, as well as general satirical social commentary. I can't give colleges the link, because my writing is quite irreverent (think eloquent but not above occasional profanity). I do, however, have around 800 followers, and I spend quite a lot of my time updating it. I care deeply about the issues I write about. Should I include this on my application at all, or is it a waste of space if I can't even direct the adcoms to the actual blog?

If you can’t direct adcoms to your site it’s a moot point. Sounds like you should have a good essay if you’re writing is so entertaining as to attract followers.

i think it’s ok that you may have occasional profanity; plenty of contemporary literature does and it’s not like the adcoms are going to go through every blog.

If you mention it, you definitely should direct adcoms to it.

I agree, just use the skills you’ve refined in your blog to write a great essay. And maybe mention it in an essay. Who knows, you could end up talking about it with an interviewer or something.

Since I don’t feel comfortable giving the URL to adcoms, I may just keep it off my application and possibly mention it in an essay.

Sounds like we agree, then.

I don’t think 800 followers is significant enough to where you would list it.

I disagree with barrk123 about the significance of 800 followers, but without formally listing the blog I think it would hard to bring this number into the essay gracefully.
