I’m not sure this goes in this topic, but I was wondering if it’s okay to include nominations/acceptances in my resume if I wasn’t able to participate in or attend those activities. (Noted as ‘nominee’ or ‘acceptance’ or something like that so that I don’t mislead, of course.) I was nominated for a position in a selective choir and accepted to a program at a state university, but I wasn’t able to participate in either because of expense and time constraints. Could I include those under honors, or would that be like lying? Would it look like I was just trying to seem more interesting?
I personally would not include them, because you didn’t actually do the activities (I understand you would make it clear you didn’t actually do the activities, but I think honestly colleges wouldn’t care what you were nominated for, if you didn’t actually complete the activity. The only difference being if you make it to a finalist round of something then I would say like “finalist” or “semi-finalist”).
Thank you for letting me know!
