I was accepted into this intensive program my sophomore year where each of us had to create a club or start a project that would better the world. So I founded an organization, got together a group of students to help me, created a website and budget, and spoke before a business panel about it. I basically spent all of my sophomore year in high school creating it.

But the problem is, my actual organization's work hasn't started. I don't want to list exactly what it is, but it'd be like creating a recycling team, doing all the preliminary work, but not getting to the part where we ACTUALLY recycle and pick up trash. However, I definitely do plan on getting the project moving my senior year, and expanding it.

So should I mention it at all? It feels weird to leave out since it took up SO MUCH of my time, but I do understand that I haven't actually started the project itself (totally dropped the ball my junior year).

*also, as a side note, there are only 10 spots on common app to list activities, and currently every spot is taken. I can PM anyone the current list, just didn’t wanna post it straight up.

I think the only issue is that you didn’t work with it your junior year. In my opinion it looks odd that you worked a lot during sophomore year, forgot it junior year, and are continuing it senior year. Unless you have a good reason for dropping it senior year, i wouldn’t put it. But you should also get a second opinion

It sounds more like a classroom project in learning how to create clubs than actually running the club, if nothing was done in actual work last year.

If you got the project up and running now, what are its chances of surviving after you graduate? If the chance is slim, then it may not be worth picking up at this point.

“I started a club/service organization/mission project” has become the new thing for students hoping to impress college admission people. It is no longer unique, unless the project REALLY takes off and accomplishes something major, as it is so overdone now.
