Should I include this in my ''brag sheet'' for letters of recommendation?

My high school has a specific format for brag sheets, and one of the components is challenges/hardships faced. However, I'm unsure of how specific and detailed to be, and I'm a bit uncomfortable with my teachers knowing about my family's history (substance abuse, incarceration, neglect/abuse in general, cease contact with father(left country because of legal issues), foster care for a while, etc.).

Also, if I do include this info, should I also give them the report from the courts/social worker? I gave it to my counselor but I'm unsure if my teachers would want it as well.

I don't want to make any of them uncomfortable and I don't want them to behave differently towards me. But then again I feel like I should include some details because they specifically said to ''make it very detailed'' and I also have to explain a really poor semester.

What do you guys think? Should I just leave it blank? Or maybe put something like ''contact me/details available upon request''? Or should I actually include my personal details in it?

I'd really appreciate any advice, thanks.

Sounds like they need to know. But since the GC knows that is the most important thing. It is just too bad you didn’t share about it at the time so they could support you. Put basic facts at least.

@BrownParent‌ Thanks for the advice! I generally don’t like sharing personal info about myself, nor did I attend my current school at the time so I couldn’t share the info with them then, but I told one of them about the foster situation. I’ll be sure to mention the most significant details.

Why don’t you make an appointment to speak with them and ask them directly.
