Should I internal transfer based on my career interests?

Hey guys,

So currently i’m in the hotel school but I was thinking about maybe internal transferring (probs to Arts and Science) because I’m not 100% set on a specific career path. I like the idea of working in hotels but I’m also considering other career options as well (like finance, IB, etc).

Given my career interest, would it be better to stay in hotel school (where I prob will have a higher GPA) or transfer to A&S (econ or math probs)?

Thanks!

You can go into finance with a HAD degree and you will be WAY less stressed and have a pretty strong network (from what I’ve heard Hotelie’s do a ton of networking and it pays off). You can take the Baker Real Estate classes to learn about making money and evaluating projects for financial viability and try to get a finance or investment backing internship over the summer. Goldam Sachs, for example, hires people from all majors. You might be behind other people if you transfer into a new major and will have to take a heavier load (to make up for distribution credits etc.). Plus, you can also get an MBA if you find out you really love business. The Johnson school is right across from Statler, so take a few business classes (S/U or audit) and try it out before you switch.
