your app seems very good! with a slightly higher act, (say 33 or 34), than I’d say MIT would be a reach for you (for most people it’s high reach/ unattainable). You are definitely qualified, it just depends on how much of a crapshoot it is…

I’d say you’re in good shape. I disagree with dirdir. It’s not unattainable for anyone. MIT is much more interested in who you are than what kind of qualifications you have anyway. Of course they want good students, and your odds are pretty low no matter how good you are, I don’t know how ACT scoring works, but based on your subject tests, courseload, GPA (a 4.0 Unweighted with that many APs?), very good ECs, and uhm, AP English after being in the US for 2 years? I’d say you have a better chance than just about anyone I’ve seen. If you can keep up that GPA with AP English and AP USH, and if you really are a match for them (based on Recommendations, Essays, and Interview), you’ll almost definitely get in, but since nobody knows how that will pan out and it’s the most important thing in your app, I’d say as of right now your odds are above the average student.

thank you guys!! your answers give me a lot confidence. I know a perfect 36 on ACT or 2400 SAT never guarantees you a spot, so I was a little panicky… right now I am waiting for rejection/acceptance from MITES. Hope I can get in!!
