Hi everybody, I'm currently a junior in high school and am just starting the whole college-thing. I just wanted to get a few opinions on whether or not I actually have a chance at Tulane, or if I should just cross it off my list now.

As of now...
GPA: 3.0 (by the time I graduate, I would have had: 2 AP's and 2 advanced courses)
SAT: 1270 (...hopefully will improve) SAT II Bio: 600
Great EC's- have been singing solo, and in a choir for over 8 years, leads in many plays, John's Hopkins CTY summer program for 4 years. Many clubs at school, and many community service hours
Will have great rec's and hopefuly a pretty amazing essay

...Looking at everything now, is it pretty obvious I don't have a shot? Or does anyone think that I may have a slight chance if I improve my SAT and GPA over the next year or so?

My personal opinion is that there is no reason for a junior to cross anything off their list. There is still a full calendar year to improve on everything. Try taking the ACT, as sometimes those who struggle with SAT find the ACT a better fit. Also, work work work for your GPA to go up. I can't evaluate how rigorous your course load is because I don't know what your high school is like, but make sure you take a good rigorous course load to prepare you for college.

You have great ECs and my opinion is that you do stand a chance at Tulane if you get the GPA and test scores up.

i think your gpa is where the problem lies...you can apply but at this point in time you won't get in unless they see something special about you

Most schools recalculate your gpa so it doesn't really matter cause everyones scale is different. I think you have a pretty good shot if you have good recs and amazing essays. If you could get up to like a 3.2 or 3.3 and you apply early I think you can get in.
