I’m nearing the end of my sophomore year, and there is a very strong possibility that I will end with a C in Chemistry Honors, which will bring my current GPA (which is at a 3.6) even lower. I’m seriously thinking of just withdrawing from the class since I think that this grade will absolutely crush me in the end. However, I’m scared of how this “W” will look on my transcript and of it would be better just to take the C. Any advice would be great. Please help.
Will you still have enough credits to graduate, and does your school allow you to do that?
You think that a withdrawal is a back-up plan for a C?
It depends on what your school requires. How many science credits do you need to graduate? Is Chemistry specifically required? Is there a possibility that you could take standard Chem over the summer? Do you know if the grades of the withdrawn class will show up on your transcript? If you do end up taking standard Chem at some point, it will look suspicious to see Honors Chem withdrawn.
When you say possibility, do you mean you currently have a B-? If you haven’t taken the final yet, the best you can do for it is to study as much as you can. Good luck! One C won’t kill you, so please don’t stress to much. ^^’
I can still graduate by doing science for the next two years
Chemistry is a requirement for admissions at many colleges. If you withdraw, can you take it again? Do you want to suffer through a repeat year of it even if you can? A “C” is not the end of the world…
I don;t think you can withdraw from a class in HS. Honestly I would not withdraw and would study very hard/talk to your teacher/get a tutor to do as well as you can on the final…the C tells something about you academically…that maybe you are not academically prepared for or don’t study enough for that class…so you wouldn’t be ready for a tippy top college. DO your best, and find a college where you fit.
