Hi, I'm gonna be a sophomore at SUNY Geneseo and I'm an economics major. I hold a 3.4 GPA and am very involved at the school. (started wrestling club, political club, finance club). In high school I had aspirations to go to Cornell. I was a member of National Honor Society President of my German Honor Society and Wrestling Captain, among my numerous community services. I got an 1270/1600 on my SAT and had a 3.78 GPA (weighted at a highly ranked public school on long island. I hate the lack of notoriety at my school, especially with a prospective career in finance/business. Where do you guys think I can get into? is a stretch to apply to Cornell since I also have a couple connections. Any other attainable schools would be appreciated

I have worked in academia in New York State for the past 20 years, and have a great respect for SUNY Geneseo. I often recommend the school to talented high school students. The combination of high caliber instruction, outstanding technology support, comfortable living conditions and low cost make Geneseo an excellent value.
You don’t say whether you have plans to attend graduate school after receiving your Bachelors degree. You will find that SUNY Geneseo students have been very successful in gaining admittance to excellent graduate programs, including those at Cornell. If prestige is important to you, perhaps you should complete your undergraduate degree at Geneseo and apply to another school for your graduate work.

I do intend on apply to graduate school, however I want to sock away some money first. I have heard about big time companies on the wall paying for their employee’s graduate school. As my Dad says, “those are opportunities only Ivies bring.”
