I was late to join a few major clubs this year and one last year, so although I was allowed to participate after paying club dues I was just not registered as an “official” member.
My only concern is that if I put that I was a part of those clubs for those years, Admissions Officers might think that I was lying since there weren’t any official club rosters with my name on it. In fact, I’m not even sure if my school has all this information. If they do, should I risk putting it on my application? Is there a place on the application where I could specifically list this problem?
UF follows the honor system. Just list the years of involvement and accomplishments. In most cases, UF isn’t going to check any rosters.
It’s one reason UF is much more interested in a smaller number of EC’s, that take a lot of involvement, than a long list of clubs that only take an hour or less a week…
I don’t think it’s a big deal that you’re not on a roster, I agree with Gator88.
The thing is, being a member of this or that is not what will get you into UF. Having an EC that is highly meaningful to YOU (and perhaps one that you might like to write about in an essay) is more important.
So by all means list it, but be thinking about what it is beyond academics that inspires you.
Good luck!
