I know it's not necessary to major in business for undergrad to get into business school, but is it better to do so? Would I be better off with an Econ degree, an Engineering degree, or a Computer Science degree instead? I really don't plan on opening my own business; I would rather work for someone else, but in a position where I could improve the company.

Major in what interests you and what you think you'll get the best grades doing.

I have an engineering degree and an MBA. MBA programs want a variety of educational backgrounds and work experience. MBA programs also like to see that you can handle the math; you can do this by (1.) scoring high on the math section of the GMAT if you have a non-technical degree, or (2.) majoring in a field that is math intensive. Econ, business, engineering, or computer science do this for you.

I like mechanical engineering, and I have at least the ECs to back it up, but I'm not sure if I want to make a career out of that. I'd like to be some version of a financial analyst, but not necessarily an investment banker. I'm just kind of torn between a business degree, an engineering degree, or a liberal arts degree (like Econ or CompSci).
