Hello, I'm thinking of majoring in the Bachelors of Science in Information Technology program, is this a good idea? I'm worried this might not be the best major, I've been hearing a lot of rumors about not getting jobs (entry-level... etc...) when I graduate and such... Is this true?

I love computers and technology, at first I was thinking of majoring in Computer Science/Computer Engineering, but the math and science is kind of making it difficult for me, so I was thinking of an easy way out...

So is IT the right path/decision for me? :(
(I know I have to make the decision myself, but I was thinking if you guys could give me some advice/recommendations...?)

Please help! Thank you so much in advance! :)

find a teacher at the school who knows you, and ask for advice.

go to career counseling at the college, and talk it thru with them

meet with reps from each of the various departments, and talk it thru with them

meet with local head-hunters and/ employment agencies who specialize in the different fields, and talk it thru with them.

surf on the web for local computer groups, perhaps thru MeetUps; attend their meetings, join in their forum discussion groups, get a sense of the work, skills needed, job availability

shadow folks who are working in the various jobs that you are considering; see which suits you

get a summer job or internship, doing one of the fields you’re looking at; see what it’s like

go to your college’s job placement office, and see what internships they are offering in the fields you are talking about

in other words, get into the trenches and try things out and evaluate
