Should I make the switch to UCF?

Hello fellow college confidential forum goers I have a bit of a dilemma on my hands. I’m currently pursuing my major in mechanical engineering at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and I’m not that enthused with FAU. I feel as if they’re subpar at least when it comes to mechanical engineering and don’t offer as much as other universities would. I was supposed to go away to The Universiy of Central Florida about a year ago, but because of a family death it just wasn’t going to happen at that time. Now that I’m back on track as far as school goes UCF has comeback as a viable option. UCF has everything plus more as far as what I want to pursue as a career. I’m currently working as a certified aircraft mechanic in south Florida and want my career after I complete my degree to be focused on turbine engine research and development. UCF has the Center for Advanced Turbomachinery and Energy Research, numerous top tier aviation companies in or around the campus doing research, and numerous other things while FAU has almost from what I’ve seen none of that. After reading what UCF has to offer I’m convinced that UCF is the school I should be going to, but in order to do so I’d have to quit a good paying job, find a place up there, and make the transition which I don’t mind doing at all if It’s all worth it in the end. So my question to you guys is it worth going to UCF or should I just stay put and go to FAU?

A couple of things I forgot to add. First I graduated with my A.A. from broward college with honors and got my honors certificate while I was attending broward college. I’ve shadowed with a Materials engineer on designing turbine engine repairs which really helped expand my knowledge. Second I live at home rent free with my parents.

I think you should most definitely attend UCF! You will have great opportunities for internships, a better social life, and a better education in the field you want to pursue. Wish you all the best Blazer0613!
