Should I mention an honor for college that I did not follow through.

I like to hear other people’s thought on this. I was accepted to a very selective summer program where everything is all paid, but I chose to attend another selective program where I got a scholarship as well to attend. Should I bother listing the first program as an honor on my college activities since I was offered the award?

No. Use the space for other honors and awards.

these are really prestigious honors, so my parents want me to mention it. not to sound bad, but i have enough honors to choose from, so it’s about the best honors/award possible.

If you get accepted to Yale, Harvard and UChicago, and decide that UChicago is the right school for you to attend, will you put “I was accepted to Yale and Harvard undergrad” on your grad school applications?

in your scenario, it would be more like you got accepted to yale and harvard graduate school, but want to go to Uchicago instead. In this case, you would certainly let them know, not on the application because you would have to apply to them all at the same time, but you would verbally let admissions or professors at UChicago know, after yale/harvard give out their decision. If they want u enough, they will bend.

This is also the case with matching financial aid. However, i would argue that getting into colleges is considered “award.” If u are chosen as a fulbright scholar, but cannot go or finish for whatever reasons, u wouldn’t put that down?
