Should I mention someone specific in the "Why NYU?" essay?

I’m finishing my “Why NYU” essay, but I’m stuck on whether or not I should mention a specific professor in my essay. I really want to mention Oliver Sacks because he is a large inspiration and his books were a huge part in me deciding to pursue neuroscience. He also made me want to minor in English. I know that he was a professor in the school of medicine, but I want to mention how his involvement in NYU as a whole reassures me that the undergrad program has been somewhat influenced by someone great. Or at least something along those lines. Would mentioning him be a good thing to do, even if he isn’t there anymore? (He sadly passed away about 2 years ago).

Absolutely, it may even bring a smile to their faces to see the impact that he had on you. I was admitted ED1, and I mentioned two professors in my essays, I definitely think it helped

can someone look at my supplement to I could really use the help.
