Should I mention this in my college admissions essay?

I have my GED and I have severe hearing loss and I went to community college to get some classes done because I wanted to go to college and was told to start at a community college.. My gpa ended up being 2.7 because of the fact I didn't have hearing aids and had trouble hearing in class because I couldn't afford the $3000 to get new ones. But, anyways, I have them now and I got accepted into a college but now I want to transfer because I don't like the college.

My current gpa is 3.4 from the college .. do you think I should mention my lack of hearing aides affecting my grades from the community college? Or will that sound like an excuse? I got accepted into the first college because there weren't really any requirements other than to write an essay. I do have great recommendations from 2 professors from the college even though they weren't asked for.

Yes, you can mention that you didn’t have the hearing aids at the first college and that since you have them now you are doing much etter.

I agree, since it is something that was a problem, and you are able to demonstrate that getting the hearing aids solved the problem, it might be wise to mention it. It could even speak to perseverance.
